The Peaks of Otter in the Fall season are a must see and if it happens you are looking for engagement photos around the same time… well, it’s a no brainer…You just HAVE to take the photos there! After you hire me, Clark Street Photography, to take them obviously. 🙂
We stopped here at this cute little boat and a woman approached me and asked me if I knew they were sitting under an apple tree. I was so confused and I think she saw it on my face… 🙂 I had no idea what she was talking about but apparently there’s a song from the 1940’s that’s titled “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”. I looked up the lyrics and it’s definitely not as dangerous as it sounded. Hahaha.
As a photographer visiting the Peaks of Otter Lodge in the Fall season, you know you are going to encounter a tons of visitors admiring the beauty of the area and you also know you are probably going to have to work around other photographers. Easy peasy. Bet you can’t tell a photographer and a their subject was right behind Lauren and Jamie in the next set of photos…magic positioning skills.
When you are with me for engagement sessions, we are going to spend a lot of time laughing. You’ll also find me looking around for every bit of pretty light I can find…as below. And I will say things like, nope, a little left, ah, two steps forward, yessssss, now don’t move!
Below is one of my FAVORITE overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s got the cutest stone steps and a ton of greenery year-round. And it always makes for the best photo spots.
Outfit change! You may already know this, but choosing the right outfits for various photo locations is so important. I’d love to say there’s not right or wrong, but that’s just not usually true. It really affects the overall look of the photos as you can see from the previous set with the pop the red outfits make. And I love the subtle color pop the cream and green makes against the same background scenery. I usually tell my clients to pick something casual and something fancy-ish so we get different looks.
We stopped at a different overlook this time to finish out the session and my goodness we had some FULL sun! I’m all for some bright sun, though, and I love seeing all the different flares it can add.
